Concrete Shed Bases

Level, stable bases for garden sheds and outbuildings

A properly constructed concrete base is essential for any garden shed, summerhouse, or workshop. A concrete base provides a level, stable foundation that prevents moisture ingress, stops ground movement affecting your building, and significantly extends the life of your shed by keeping it dry and level.

Unlike paving slabs which can shift and settle over time, a concrete base remains solid and level for decades. We typically recommend GEN 3 (C20) concrete for standard shed bases, or C30 for larger structures or heavy-duty workshops. The base should extend 50-100mm beyond the shed footprint for optimal support.

Why Choose Concrete Shed Bases?

  • Provides level surface - Ensures shed sits perfectly level
  • Prevents moisture damage - Keeps shed dry and prevents rot
  • Long-term stability - No settling or movement over time
  • Increases shed longevity - Protects your investment
  • Quick installation - Can be completed in a single day
  • Cost-effective - More economical than alternative bases

We handle all aspects of shed base installation including excavation, sub-base preparation, and concrete pouring. Just provide us with your shed dimensions and we'll take care of the rest.

Concrete Shed Bases FAQ's

For standard garden sheds, 75-100mm thickness is sufficient. For larger buildings or workshops with heavy equipment, we recommend 100-150mm thickness.

The base should be 50-100mm larger than your shed on all sides. This prevents rainwater dripping from the roof onto exposed earth which could splash back onto the shed.

For most domestic sheds, reinforcement isn't necessary if the sub-base is properly prepared. For larger structures or soft ground, we may recommend mesh reinforcement.
